Last year I decided to avoid seed oils whenever possible. (If you're curious about why I decided to do such a crazy thing, check out the post below.)
Turns out that doing so hasn’t drastically affected my overall diet. This has been true mainly due to a few amazing foods that have allowed me to enjoy some of my favorite dishes without compromising my goals.
I consider myself to be a foodie, and a rather weak one at that. In other words, I am not good at limiting myself or abstaining from yumminess. By no means have I cut 100% of seed oils from my diet, but the drastic reduction has been easier because I can still enjoy these fantastic foods:
Chilaquiles
If you enjoy chilaquiles, basically breakfast nachos, you can do so seed oil free thanks to these bad boys!
Corn chips were a huge no-no until these arrived on the scene. Chips ‘n’ salsa? Chips ‘n’ guacamole? Not a problem!
The classic turkey sandwich
Mayonnaise is swimming in seed oils. Any good sandwich needs mayo, and two brands hook it up.
Primal Kitchen now also has ranch dressing, in case you like fries (homemade in the air fryer) on the side of your sammie. I’m of course presuming that you also cannot eat fries without ranch.
Potato chips
These yummy chips are definitely at home next to a sandwich and could easily piggyback on the previous food, but they deserve their own number. You’ll never notice that they weren't drown in seed oils.
They come in malt vinegar and sea salt flavor as well.
O.K., so it’s a short list. Mostly cooking at home has helped me avoid the dreaded seed oil. But these items are key; they have kept me from cheating whenever I've had a hankering for some favorite indulgences.
Do you know of any other products that are made sans seed oil? Are there any other healthier products that you’ve substituted for a favorite indulgence? I'd love to give them a try! Please let me know below.
